Here are some suggestions for this masterpiece. If you like them, you can implement them after the game is out, when you don't have any deadlines to fit into!
-Choosing a name for your character
-Passing through thin platforms
-Wandering merchants, that either stay still in a safe area or just wander around aimlessly. These would be rare and would sell great items.
-Safe areas, where you can take a rest. There could be Shops and minigames.
-Minigames such as target shooting, race bets, or arcade game demakes.
-More game references!
-Co-op multiplayer, either online or local (same keyboard)
-Better color selection (RGB?)
-NPCs that give you sidequests such as "Kill 10 people with an adventure hat" or "Collect 30 Onyx gems"
-Combat pets and esthetic companions!
-Actual animals
